D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N Router is equipped with three detachable antennas, four Gigabit LAN ports, one WAN port, and a USB port. The USB port can be used for a USB device or to support Windows Connect Now (WCN). The LED lights on the front side show the status of the router, the LAN ports, the wireless network, the USB port, and the connection to the Internet. It also comes with D-Link Router Quick Setup software that allows an easy setup for the device. The DIR-655 is wall-mountable and has a detachable base which enables it to work in vertical position. For the operating system, it is compatible with Windows 7.

To hard reset the DIR-655 XTREME N GIGABIT ROUTER, locate the reset button (hole) on the rear panel of the unit. With the router powered on, use a paperclip to hold the button down for 10 seconds. Release the button and the router will go through its reboot process. Wait about 30 seconds to access the router. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. When logging in, the username is admin and leave the password box empty.
